Members at a key contact training dayThe CMA has a network of key contacts who offer one-to-one support on the telephone or by email. Our key contacts, who have undergone training, either suffer from the condition or have family members affected.
We have key contacts with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. They have had a range of medical treatments, including surgery or medical devices such as pacemakers or internal defibrillators (ICDs). Three have undergone heart transplants.
Some are parents of children with cardiomyopathy. One developed a particular type of cardiomyopathy associated with pregnancy after having her second child. We also have key contacts who have tragically lost a partner or child. But they are all keen to help others in similar difficulties.
Our volunteers range in age from 20 upwards.
Our key contacts live all over Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each year we hold a training day (the picture shows those attending a recent training day) to help others decide if they would like to join the network.
If you would like to speak to a key contact, please let us know. You can call our freephone number 0800 0181 024 or email us .
